Client Services
Moving from a client-vendor to a partner relationship by aligning expectations.

Four Types of Client Engagement

Service Provider / Service Delivery
The client is looking for a solution to a well defined issue. They know exactly what the problem is and they are looking for someone to run the process at a suitable price/performance ratio. This scenario is close to selling and delivering a "product".
The key differentiator lies in the Management Model and Delivery Framework of the Service Provider and their ability to execute.
Management Consulting
Management Consulting is required when the problem is unclear and thus the process required also unclear. The consultant will help the client analyze the situation and also help the client identify the steps required to provide a remedy. Implementing the remedy can be an opportunity for additional consulting services or the client can decide to perform the implementation with their own resources.
Professional Services
The client is looking for a recognized top specialist who can fix an important problem, but they don't feel the need to be intimately involved in the solution. Applies high levels of customization, creativity and innovation combined with a low degree of client interaction.
Fully implemented Professional Services solutions often lead to extended Managed Services engagements as the client is satisfied with the end product but does not intend to support it internally.
Build Operate Transfer (BOT)
The client knows the problem and may have an idea of the process required to fix it, however they are looking for a Professional Services type of leadership experience along the way to ensure the success of the project. Start-up companies and younger executives often prefer BOT services over Service Provider as they will learn from the process and ultimately retain ownership of the finished product.
Knowledge Transfer is an essential component of the BOT engagement model.
